How does the colour Green make you feel?

Are you having difficulty choosing a colour for your kitchen cabinets ? Not surprising as colour psychology suggests that different colors can evoke psychological reactions, color is often thought to have an impact on moods and emotions.

How does the color green make you feel? For many, it is strongly associated with nature and immediately brings to mind the lush green grass, trees, and forests. Perhaps because green is so heavily associated with nature, it is often described as a refreshing and tranquil colour and it’s one of this years most popular colours for hand painted kitchens and furniture! The color can be used in a range of shades and tones, from a pale and soothing neutral to a high-energy color explosion.

Choosing a dark green such as Farrow & Ball’s Studio Green #93, is a bold choice but its very cool! Just remember all you need to do is to soften the color with accents . Stick with a light neutral colour such as Ammonite # 274 or Strong White # 2001, both light grays from Farrow & Ball. A pure white wall would make this green pop too much, so a neutral gray or a warm Blush is perfect with this dark green.

If you want white walls a blue / green colour will invigorate your kitchen by adding a bright and airy feel to it.

Some of the most popular greens I’ve used when asked to hand paint a new or renovate an old kitchen are…..

Mylands - Hooker Green, Notting Hill, Museum

Farrow & Ball - Calke Green # 35, Olive #13, Lichen #19, Duck Green #W55

Little Green - Putti, Obsidian Green , North Brink Grey, Acorn

Though green can read as a strong colour, don’t be put off by it . There are so many shades to choose from they can be almost neutral and by adding gold or bronze hardware and light fixtures to the room it will give any the kitchen a undeniable luxurious look.
