Does your newly installed kitchen need hand painting?

I often hear from clients who have had a new kitchen installed that they were left adrift when trying to find a specialist kitchen painter to finish the job. I mean after spending countless hours going over the logistics of planning for the kitchen and thousands of pounds to have it made and installed , its kind of terrifying to have your dream kitchen torn apart by some truly average paint job!

I’ve painted hundred of new kitchens, my favourites being from Handmade kitchens of Christchurch and Classic Kitchens Direct. Classic Kitchens Direct give you the option of having your units pre-primed and ready for the top coat to be hand painted. I would recommend having it left bare because we tint out primer to the topcoat, which intensifies the colour and if any scratches were to happen over time it’s a lot less obvious!

It’s super important to choose the correct materials for the job. How to know though, after all there’s just too many to choose from and they’re all promising perfect results ? Thankfully after years of experience we know what works ! It takes time , effort and a lot of patience to achieve our sublime finish.

One of my primers of choice is Otex or Akvar, both excellent products from Tikkurila . These guys are brilliant to deal with too.

Another brand of choice I love is Mylands paint. Mylands is Britain’s oldest family owned and run paint and wood polishes manufacturer. They have been making paint in the same district of South London for over 130 years. Their time-honoured techniques and passion for paint has been handed down through four generations of the same family. Over the years, they have perfected the art of making paint with unique recipes, superior ingredients and an unwavering dedication to quality.  Mylands paints are water based with a low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) content, making them virtually solvent free and kind to you, your family and the environment.
